General Session with Keynote Speaker Saeed Jones
As a black gay kid growing up in Texas in the 1990s, poet Saeed Jones remembers getting negative messages about his identity from every aspect of his life. In his coming-of-age and award-winning memoir, How We Fight for Our Lives, Jones reflects on his struggle to embrace his identity. During this session, Jones will tackle the questions of race and gender.

Ohio Public Library Certification Luncheon*
Sponsored by the OLC’s Professional Development Committee, this is an exclusive lunch for Certified Public Librarians (CPL) and Certified Public Library Staff (CPLS). This event honors certification holders and their commitment to the public library community. During the luncheon, State Librarian Wendy Knapp will speak on librarianship and the essential set of core values that define, inform, and guide our professional practice.

Jeni will take you on a journey of flavor and her creative process, of which libraries — many libraries — have a starring role.

The Columbus Metropolitan Library will host an evening reception at the Main Library downtown. This event is included with your Convention and Expo registration.

Join us for a reception at the Columbus Metropolitan Library in downtown Columbus. View the architectural history of the original 114-year old Carnegie library and be inspired by its modern, transformational and award-winning renovation. This is the perfect time to reconnect with colleagues and enjoy the local flavors of Columbus. The Library Store, run by the Friends of the Library, will be open during the reception. Transportation from the Hyatt Regency will be provided.
