The Convention and Expo Committee created learning tracks to help you get the most from this professional development opportunity. The 2019 tracks include:

  • Leading Libraries

  • Author Spotlight

  • Developing Yourself

  • Collections

  • Community Engagement

  • Public Relations

  • Program and Information Services

  • Readers’ Advisory

  • Youth Services

The tracks contain traditional one-hour professional development sessions along with some unique program formats.

Un-programs (audience participation format)
Un-programs can be found throughout the program schedule. They feature a moderator who gets the discussion going, and then he or she turns the discussion and direction of the session over to the participants.

LIBChats (quick, high-energy talks by a speaker who is passionate about a topic)
Back by popular demand, LIBChats are quick sessions on a thought-provoking topic. LIBChats will be held during the general sessions on Wed., Sept. 25 from 3:15 – 4:00 p.m. and Thurs., Sept. 26 from 9:45 – 10:30 a.m.

CORE COMPETENCIES
All of the Professional Development sessions are linked to an Ohio Public Library Core Competency.
See OLC website for a list of core competency abbreviations.

70 EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
Choose from 70 different sessions to create a customized professional development program.

Poster Sessions (displayed in the Exhibit Hall)
Poster sessions are designed to be a practical and informative display of an idea, project, or program that has been presented at a library. They will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall throughout the Convention and Expo, and staffed on Thurs., Sept. 26, from 3:15-4:15 p.m. to allow time for questions and discussion.
