The Convention and Expo Committee created learning tracks to help you get the most from this professional development opportunity. The 2018 tracks include:

  • Services to Youth

  • Engaging the Community through Programs

  • Building Exceptional Teams

  • Developing Yourself and Others

  • It’s All About Funding

  • Marketing Everything You Do

  • Library Spaces: Inside and Out

  • You Need to Know This

  • It’s All About Collections

The tracks contain traditional one-hour professional development sessions along with some unique program formats including:

Un-programs (audience participation format)
Un-programs can be found throughout the program schedule. They feature a moderator who gets the discussion going, and then he or she turns the discussion and direction of the session over to the participants.

LIBChats (quick, high-energy talks by a speaker who is passionate about a topic)
Due to popular demand, the Convention and Expo will have two sets of LIBChats:

  1. Oct. 3 | 3:15-4:00 p.m. (Zambezi Room)
  2. Oct. 4 | 3:30-4:15 p.m. (Zambezi Room)

CORE COMPETENCIES
All of the Professional Development sessions are linked to an Ohio Public Library Core Competency.
See OLC website for a list of core competency abbreviations.

65+ SESSIONS
Choose from more than 65 different sessions to create a customized professional development program. Session descriptions will be posted soon.

Poster Sessions (displayed in the Exhibit Hall/Kilimanjaro Ballroom)
Poster sessions are designed to be a practical and informative display of an idea, project, or program that has been presented at a library. They will be displayed in the Exhibit Hall throughout the Convention and Expo, and staffed on Oct. 4, from 2:15-3:15 p.m. to allow time for questions and discussion.
