Countdown to the Convention
AUGUST 18, 2021
Welcome to Convention Corner!
Each week we will be previewing some of the great speakers and events that will be part of the 2021 Convention and Expo.
“Developing Greatness” is the theme of this year’s conference, and the Program Committee selected a slate of keynote speakers that include best-selling authors and renowned experts in topics impacting public libraries and their staff.
Young adult author Jason Reynolds kicks off this year’s event, and the afternoon keynote is Dr. Hassan Kwame Jeffries. Thursday morning’s keynote is award-winning poet Saeed Jones, and Jeni Britton, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, will address attendees during the afternoon general session. Fobazi Ettarh, who has written about vocational awe in libraries, will close out the event on Friday. Learn more about our keynotes.
Registration is already open, and the schedule and descriptions for the 60+ breakout sessions are on the conference website at conventionexpo.olc.org.
Daily Schedules:
In the coming weeks, we’ll be using Convention Corner to tell you more about special events like author book signings, Battledecks, Ghost Tours, and Library Fashion Friday. We’ll also be answering those burning questions like where to park and where to eat.
In the meantime, we are gathering photos of every public library in Ohio for a special display. If you have not already submitted a photo, please email it to Rebecca Wilden at rfw@mechanicsburgohlibrary.org.
